Vuelta route 2011 Sierre Nevada Andalucia

Travelled from Bourg d’Oisans to Monachil today landing in Malaga to warm (18 centigrade)  and dry weather. I made the 2 hour trip to my base for the week in a stupidly cheap hire car. I spent the night in one of the local bars drinking bear and eating tapas with Shaun and Csilla from www.RideSierraNevada.com I am hear checking out road routes for a week at their base (and our base in March for our cycling holiday) 

I have also just read that the 2011 Vuelta a España will be tackling the climb out of Granada into the Sierre Nevada national park up towards the Pico de Veleta

Sierra Nevada last hosted a stage finish of the Vuelta in 2008, when Frenchman David Moncoutié took the victory on his way to the first of three consecutive mountains titles in Spain’s national tour.
