Pico de Veleta – Sierra Nevada

Rode the Pico de Veleta today from Monachil. The climb starts directly outside Monachil through some fairly steep swithbacks. After a while the road flattens out for a while before dropping down and climbing steadily up to 2500 metres. The road continues on further than this but at this time of year its a ski resort. The temperature was in the high teens today and a little colder for the descent. The climb is similar to that of the Col du Galibier in terms of height and distance.
