Route to the Galibier from Bourg d Oisans re-opened.

The route to the Galibier from Bourg d Oisans re-opened on the 24 November, on the completion of a route de secours (relief road).  This new 5.3km road consisting of parts of an existing forest track and new construction on the left bank of the lake, restores the route and communications vital for the area.  The aim of the route is largely to facilitate local life and as a result there are some restrictions on access and weekend closures planned in high season to deter holiday traffic.

The route along the right bank of the lake remains closed at the tunnel du Chambon on the RD 1091 while repair and construction work takes place.  The current plan is to repair part of the existing tunnel and to add another length of new tunnel to the existing one, deviating from the point of the cliff collapse. This phase of the works on the on the road is planned to start in the new year and aims to be completed and ready to open for winter 2016/2017.
