New Zealand Cycling Day 6, a set on Flickr.

Good coffee day, bad weather day. Started with an excellent coffee at the base of the Sky tower. It was not an ideal day to climb the Sky Tower but with the wet and windy weather the mornings ride was cancelled. Thoughts – fair weather New Zealand Cyclist not used to the extreme weather of Alpe d’Huez.

With the weather looking a bit better in the afternoon (and after another excellent coffee) we set off for a ride from NZ Road Cyclist head quarters through the suburbs of Auckland to Herald Island and back.  I love these rides through the suburbs because you start to get a feel for the country and its architecture. It was great having the local knowledge, you can sit back and enjoy the ride without worrying about where you are going and get in a little bit of sneaky drafting.
