Day 10 Taupo to New Plymouth

Today was mostly spent on the bus but I did manage to cycle down to the lake for some breakfast on the shore front. The 7 km cycle ride was worth it sitting on the jeti eating a banana and the last of Mrs Gaskell ‘ s caramel slices. I have the receipe for said slices so expect them in a cafe somewhere in Bourg d’Oisans at a future date.

The only thing lacking was an excellent NZ coffee so I rode back to Turangi to dismantle my bike (a better more compact job than the first time) a flat white and to wait for the bus to arrive.

The bus journey was long and uneventfully and I passed the time listening to The Drums and The Wedding Present.

The reason for my trip to New Plymouth are two fold

1. To hook up with some of Helens cousins who emigrated to New Zealand at about the same time as we moved to Bourg d’Oisans
2. Compete in the Taranaki Cycle challenge
